Update on the Google Theory

My Google theory was first explained on Sept. 14, 2006 - check it in the archives. The essence is that the government is behind the scenes of Google, to get people's information. All the things people don't judges to issue subpoenas for, they happily give Google access to. When I wrote that, it was mostly their email, their web searches, the locations they want to see and travel to, and the files on their personal computers.

Google has added some new services in the past 6 months. Instant messaging, for all those quick chats and things you don't want to commit to email - Google chat. Blogs, to share information, thoughts, opinions (and trivia like who your friends are) - Blogger, owned by Google. Videos of every possible thing - YouTube, owned by Google. You have a business with finances and documents - Google Docs and Spreadsheets. And for that they even save you the trouble of installing anything, and keep both the software and the files you produce on their server. And they know who you share them with. It's strictly a matter of convenience that anyone who looks at these files needs a Google account.

I can't think of any personal of business information that they haven't found a way to convince people to give them. We'll see what they offer next.
